Patch 0.9.18, also known as the Midwinter Update, was a major update launched on December 19th, 2017. Its main features were the introduction of row limits, the removal of row-locked Units, a big UI overhaul, the update of many visual effects, the Midwinter Hunt event, the Reconnect feature, and the introduction of more than 100 new cards.
Description[]
With this update we’re introducing more than 100 new cards to the game, many of which with new abilities and gameplay mechanics, a daily quest system, and a significant revamp of existing features and visuals including a new deck builder and card replacement screen.
Additionally, we are introducing our third holiday event – Midwinter Hunt, for which you’ll be able to unlock a new themed avatar, border and title!
Increased Mill Value[]
The following cards will have increased value for milling for 3 days following the release of the patch (more on this below):
The cards on the list, when milled, will create an amount of scraps and powder equal to the amount of scraps and powder needed to craft a card of the same value.
General Changes[]
- The deckbuilder and collection have been merged and reworked.
- The matchmaking screen has had a UI overhaul.
- The main menu has undergone some reorganization.
- The mulligan screen has been reworked and updated.
- The profile card selection screen has been reworked and updated.
- Many tooltips have been changed to be more concise.
- Many names have been shortened.
- The trinkets menu has been partially reworked.
- The tutorial has been updated to represent the current game more accurately.
- Challenges have been updated to represent the current game more accurately.
- Starter decks have been updated to represent the current game more accurately.
- All units are now agile.
- The tooltip UI has been updated.
- Deathwish abilities no longer trigger at the end of the round.
- AI and AI decks have seen significant changes in preparation for future content.
New Features[]
- Over 100 new cards have been added to the game!
- Many new visual effects have been added to the game.
- In various choice menus your cards should now offer a blue highlight and the opponent's a red highlight.
- You can now look in the graveyard during choice menus.
- A new play slot has been added to the game to make it easier to see when various types of cards are being played.
- Combat text has been added to the game.
- Rewards for several seasons have been added to the trinkets menu.
- There is now a limit of 9 units per row.
- Card animations have changed significantly to make it easier to follow when cards are Discarded, Summoned, etc.
- Leaders no longer Spawn a copy of themselves. Instead, they are played like normal units.
- The Holiday Keg Pack has been added to the game.
- The Midwinter Hunt event has been added to the game.
- The Token category has been added to the game. Tokens are automatically removed from the game on entering the graveyard.
- The reconnect system has been added to the game.
Neutral[]
- Regis' power reduced from 7 to 1.
- Regis now Drains all boosts from a unit.
- Avallac'h: Sage now spawns a unit from your opponent's starting deck.
- Gaunter O'Dimm's power increased from 5 to 6.
- Gaunter O'Dimm now allows you to guess the power of the card he's picked to play it.
- Lambert: Swordmaster's power increased from 7 to 8.
- Lambert: Swordmaster now damages all copies of an enemy unit by 4.
- Ciri's power increased from 5 to 6.
- Ciri's armor reduced from 3 to 2.
- Triss: Butterfly Spell's power increased from 6 to 8.
- Triss: Butterfly Spell no longer has a Revenge ability.
- Yennefer: Conjurer's power increased from 7 to 9.

- Prize-Winning Cow no longer has a retaliation ability and isn't doomed.

- Dorregaray's power reduced from 2 to 1.
- Dorregaray now creates a Bronze or Silver Beast or Draconid.
- Aeromancy is now Aeromancer, a 4-power unit that Spawns Frost, Fog or Alzur's Thunder.
- Operator's power reduced from 7 to 5.
- Myrgtabrakke now deals 2 damage 3 times.
- Cleaver's power reduced from 9 to 7.
- Cleaver now deals 1 damage for each card in your hand.
- Ocvist's power increased from 7 to 8.
- Cyprian Wiley now Weakens a unit by 4.
- Johnny's power increased from 8 to 9.
- Sarah's power increased from 9 to 11.
- Tremors now only damages enemies.
- Alzur's Thunder now deals 9 damage.
- Swallow now boosts by 10.
- Dimeritium Shackles no longer demote units.
- Dimeritium Shackles now deal 4 damage instead of 2.
- Quen has been removed from the game and replaced with Wyvern Shield.
Monsters[]
- Unseen Elder's power reduced from 5 to 4.
- Unseen Elder now Drains a unit by half.
- Dagon's power increased from 5 to 8.
- Dagon can no longer spawn Frost.
- Kayran's power increased from 4 to 6.
- Draug's power increased from 8 to 10.
- Draug now Resurrects any units in the graveyard as 1-power Draugirs on its row until the row is full.
- Old Speartip is now 2 seperate cards: Old Speartip and Sleeping Giant.
- She-Troll's power reduced from 8 to 1.
- She-Troll now boosts by the base power of the unit it Consumes.
- Pavetta's power reduced from 7 to 3.
- Pavetta no longer requires the Truce condition.
- Mourntart's ability now triggers when played.
- Mourntart's power increased from 2 to 4.
- Abaya's power increased from 3 to 4.
- Nekurat now Drains a unit by 5.
- Nithral's power increased from 5 to 6.
- Toad Prince's power increased from 5 to 6.
- Frightener's power increased from 12 to 13.
- Foglet is no longer Resurrected from the graveyard.
- Nekker's power increased from 3 to 4.
- Harpy no longer deals damage.

- Shieldmaiden no longer deals damage. Instead, it Summons all copies of the unit.
- Herbalist's power increased from 2 to 3.
- Clan Warcrier's power reduced from 6 to 5.
- Clan Warcrier now boosts an ally by half the unit's power.
- Clan Hunter now deals 5 damage.
- Clan Axeman's power increased from 5 to 6.
- Light Longship's power increased from 5 to 7.
- Light Longship now boosts self instead of Strengthening.
- War Longship now deals 2 damage to a random enemy when played.
- Clan Veteran now Strengthens all Tuirseach units by 1, wherever they are, including the graveyard.
- Raging Berserker's power increased from 6 to 8.
- Skald's power increased from 5 to 8.
- Skald now boosts all allies from a Clan of your choice by 1.
- Clan Skirmisher's power increased from 7 to 8.
- Clan Hunter is now a Tuirseach unit.
